Apparently, this girl's entire first year of life was spent in various humane shelter facilities. At about 13 months, she was adopted by a neighbor of mine.

One of my neighbors got this young dog from CARE (see insert below) after their elderly dog died. They walked her every day and intended to keep her long-term.

They had her for about 2 weeks. Unexpectedly, a stray Black Mouth Cur began to hang out around the neighborhood, focusing on their house.

This stray is an amazing dog and he had been abandoned by his owner, left in a park a mile down the road. He had waited there for three weeks for his owner to return, but the heartless son-of-a-bitch never did.

My neighbor and I both realized that the stray (photo at right) should be named Max (Kassie asked the dog's name "telepathically" and heard "Max", LOL) and my neighbor decided to keep the large stray and I agreed to take Ginger and try to find her a new home.

As we have incorporated her into our home, we have decided that she will be staying with us and the other dogs as she is acclimating extremely well to our family.

Ginger is incredibly sweet and loving, and she is very happy here with us. She is still "young" in heart, having never been in a home before, so she has so much to learn, but she is eager and willing, thus will make a wonderful dog over the many coming years.

July 1 Update
Ginger now has a new forever home! We had originally agreed to keep her until we could find her a home, but had not been successful, so we considered keeping her permanently, but her needs are greater than we could provide. She is so full of energy and has never been properly house trained. She needs space to run and play, and she really would be best as an outside dog. It is the only thing that has been an issue regarding keeping her long-term.

In talking to Steve, the neighbor who originally got her from the shelter, we knew we needed a different solution that would be more appropriate for Ginger's needs.

This morning, at 8:30 am on July 1, 2026, I sat on the floor hugging and loving on Ginger and I prayed aloud "with her" asking the LORD to arrange a new home for her with a family and maybe another dog or dogs with a fenced in yard and running space for her.

At 10:30 am, two hours after praying "with" Ginger, Steve came to the house and said that one of the workers who were helping him build a new bedroom addition onto his house was interested in Ginger. Soon, that worker took Ginger and the things I had bought for her, including her large crate and plump bedding, home to meet his family. He has a 500 acre farm out in the country, another dog (having just lost one dog to old age), three kids, and a huge invisible-fenced yard with another huge physical fenced yard, with an outdoor dog shelter that includes an air-conditioned area as well.

This development is not only the most perfect arrangement for Ginger, but is exactly what I had prayed for only two hours before Steve came to the house. Praise God for His tender mercies and how He can arrange even the most simple things to achieve that for which His followers pray! And I am so thankful for God's genuine concern for one of His simplest creations: Ginger! My sadness at what may come for Ginger has been turned into fantastic joy for her good fortune, borne from the hand of our loving Creator! Truly amazing!
