Theme Week 25 = H Upmann
I have two boxes of 15 year old Chairman's Reserve Double Coronas as well as a number of "half corona" sized maduro and natural wrapper cigars. The two boxes of Double Coronas are no longer available (I bought those 15 years ago, just before Upmann stopped making those particular specialty boxed cigars), so these are special.

I decided that I want to save one of the boxes for aging a minimum of 25 years, and will, with this 'theme' week, begin enjoying one of the two boxes since they have already aged 15+ years.

As for the "half corona" sized cigars, I have generally found them to be tasty and enjoyable, but have had a number of them with tighter draws, which I don't like. Perhaps that was just the 'luck of the draw' (literally, LOL) for the cigar boxes I had purchased, but since it wasn't just one of the many purchased, rather the tight draw was noticed in about 20% - 25% of the natural cigars, thus it seems to have been a construction issue at the time of production for those quantities I bought.

Not quite like sucking on a broomstick, but still my experience with these purchased many years ago was a hard draw in a number of them, causing me to infrequently seek out Upmann. Instead, I find the Arturo Fuente Petite Corona (AF's version of "half corona"), and even the Exquisitos, to be a consistently easy draw with a bit more flavor.

History
The history of H. Upmann cigars is long and complex, with many notable events and people involved. In 1844, German banker Hermann Dietrich Upmann established the H. Upmann cigar brand in Havana, Cuba.

Upmann is credited with recognizing the potential of Cuban tobacco and is sometimes credited with inventing the practice of packaging cigars in cedar boxes. The brand quickly became popular among Havana's elite, who were drawn to the cigars' smooth, mellow flavor. US President John F. Kennedy was a fan of the brand.

The original company went bankrupt after allegations of German espionage. Menéndez, García y Cía Co., the creators of the Montecristo cigar brand, purchased the company. Sadly, after Fidel Castro came to power and stole everything, Alonso Menedez and Garcia moved to the Dominican Republic to start all over from scratch after losing everything the company had built for over 100 years to the murderous, thieving communists.
