With so many writers having written DS9 and
ST fiction over the last thirty years, sometimes different
sources will use the same Rule of Acquisition number but the
rule will be completely different, or the rule will be given in
a canon source. Michael A. Martin commented: "I remember
coming up with things like a new Ferengi Rules of Acquisition,
which was later supplanted by a different canonical rule that
used the same number that I chose. That kind of thing is an
occupational hazard when youre writing a tie-in to a series
thats still in production, so you cant let it bother you when
